In a devastating turn of events, authorities have confirmed the identities of the two young lives tragically lost when an SUV collided with an Amish buggy on Monday morning. The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as Wilma Miller, 7, and her older sister, Irma Miller, 11. May their souls find eternal rest.
Following the collision, two other siblings, aged 9 and 13, were rushed to the hospital. Their conditions remain undisclosed at this time, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The family, residing in a secluded part of Stewartville, also mourns the loss of their horse, which did not survive the accident.
Investigators report that the accident took place at approximately 8:25 AM on Monday. The two-wheeled Amish buggy was traveling southbound near the intersection of County Road 1 and County Road 102 when it was rear-ended by a southbound SUV. The driver of the SUV, a 35-year-old resident of Spring Valley, has been identified but not yet arrested.
Currently, a multi-agency investigation is underway, involving the Minnesota State Patrol, Mower County Sheriff’s Office, and Fillmore County Deputies to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.
